Homemade Halloween costumes can be created through any materials and clothing that is at a person's house. There are many different outfits that can be made this way, or created by a couple of people working together with the supplies on hand. Clown costumes are one idea that can be created by using extra large clothing and a little make-up. Often the white make-up for the base will have to be bought, but the reds can be made by using lipstick and the other colors can be made through the eye shadow and liners that are in the bathroom.

A scarecrow Halloween costume can be made by using a flannel shirt and stuffing it with a pillow and then placing pieces of hay or straw in the openings of the shirt so that it looks like the entire thing is stuffed with the hay or straw. The shirt and pillow should be held in place with a rope belt and loose jeans or overalls should be worn over it too.

A tourist outfit is also easy Halloween costume to create through materials that are at home or can be found in a second hand store. All that is needed are some very loud shirts and shorts that have outrageous Hawaiian patterns on them, as well as oversized sunglasses and a camera to hang around his or her neck. An added effect would be to carry a bag that is filled with maps that are folded and unfolded and hanging out of it all over the place.

Old man and old woman costumes can be created by using a cane and some older styles of clothing, such as stockings that are calf high and rolled down a bit for an old woman. The hair can be made grey by using a little bit of flour in the hair to complete the effect.
